This week, the ubiquitous Oprah Winfrey treated six students from her South African school to an unforgettable evening in Las Vegas, where they celebrated the 21st birthday for one of the girls in the group at two of the hottest shows on the Las Vegas Strip. The group kicked off the special occasion at Mandalay Bay, where they enjoyed the critically acclaimed Michael Jackson ONE by Cirque du Soleil.
Throughout the show, Winfrey and the girls danced in their seats while the incredible performers of Cirque du Soleil paid tribute to the King of Pop. After the performance, the girls went backstage, where the cast welcomed them with cheers and shouts of “Happy birthday.”
Before posing for photos, Winfrey praised the cast for their outstanding performance, saying things like “that was the best show I’ve ever seen” and “I’ve never seen anything like that before,” referring to the amazing dedication of the cast and crew members behind the scenes. She was blown away by the special effects featured during “Man in the Mirror,” raving about the stunning hologram after the show. “That was WICKED! I can’t wait to tell everyone about this show,” she exclaimed. Following photos, she hugged Valerie Kimani, calling the inspirational singer a Goddess, and Trent Jeray, the famed soloist in the “Human Nature” act. Winfrey then took her students down the street to the Bellagio, where they enjoyed the rest of their evening watching the aquatic masterpiece “O” by Cirque du Soleil.
